British Gas launches Help the Aged partnership

British Gas has unveiled its partnership with Help the Aged in order to help elderly people in the UK cope with the increasing fuel prices.

The British Gas Help the Aged Partnership 2008 will run until March and aims to help the older generation to reduce their bills by being more energy efficient.

It also hopes to make older people aware of the fuel benefits available to them and ensure they claim their full entitlements.

The campaign is to be supported by GMTV, with resident health professional Doctor Hilary Jones giving the campaign three days of coverage and a special feature on how to claim benefits.

Yasmin Pethania, from British Gas Personal Responsibility, said the firm's previous campaigns had "gone a long way to helping" elderly people during winter.

She added: "We are determined to help where we can this year with a focus on empowering older people."

British Gas Business recently shared a Green Apple award for Environmental Best Practice in the Commercial Utilities Sector with facilities company Carillion.
